Slow down but don’t stop

Happy #MammothMonday. Today is one of those days. Between being quarantined from this pandemic and the monsoon like weather that came through town knocking my power out four times, my frustration level was at an all time high today. I cannot even begin to describe my frustration of trying to prepare income tax returns and without notice, the power goes out, knocking the computer off and deleting any unsaved work I was in the process of inputting and it did this all x 4. I finally lost internet on the fourth outage and that was my final straw so I threw my hands up and said to myself, that is it. I grabbed my phone and sat on the couch sulking in frustration.

Just then, my son came downstairs, almost as if he sensed I needed an attitude intervention and he began to ask me if he could watch television with me. Well, I took a deep breath and we proceeded to get drinks and chips and he began to tell me how much he hated the Coronavirus and quarantine and that he really missed school (this was about the 5th or 6th time he told me this today 😊). He lasted with me about half hour then he disappeared upstairs. It was a great little break.

That little pause made me realize that I cannot let things stop me. We all must keep moving forward. It is perfectly acceptable to slow down, be in the moment and access your situation. I did just that. After I threw my internal tantrum, I regrouped and rather than ending the day so early, I was still able to get five tax returns finished before my computer went down, I spent quality time with my son then I got my laptop, threw my feet up on the couch and worked on other stuff while watching television and watching the torrential rain through the window. The day turned out better than it would have had I not lost power. Remember, when it rains, there is always a rainbow 🌈 , you just have to open your eyes.

The moral of the story, keep moving. Never stop because your plans are not going as you wanted. Sometimes we all need to slow down. It allows us to process things and regroup. Slow down as often as you need just never stop.

I have a book recommendation for my Lori’s Loop reading group today called Automate Your Business Guarantee Your Results.
