We interrupt this COVID-19 pandemic to bring you the following blog post on this #MammothMonday.
Everyone seems so worried about the cancellations and closures of everything around us. Well, I just wanted to break in and tell you about the things that are NOT cancelled. The first group of life things that are NOT called are faith, hope or charity. You have the ability to dig inside of you and find everything that you believe in. Reach inside of you and bring your faith forward. Then, hope for the outcome you want. Hope that this virus dies down sooner than later. Faith and hope together can do wonders for you mentally and emotionally. As for charity, when people hear this, they think that it is writing a check but that is not what I am talking about here. When I speak of charity, I mean, check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. That alone can take up plenty of your day. You do not have to go into their homes. Call them and if they need anything like a hot meal, cook it and leave it at their door. Faith, hope and charity are not cancelled.
What else is not cancelled? Going outdoors is NOT cancelled. Grab the kids and go for a walk. Everyday of quarantine is not going to be a bad weather day so when the sun is shining get outdoors. Breathe the fresh air. Get away from the electronics for an hour or two. Enjoy the sunshine.
How about music, reading, singing etc. Those things are not cancelled. These are basics that just about anyone can enjoy. All three involve distracting the mind and allowing you to drift into happiness and away from the stress of the terrible news that is in a 24 hour loop.
My final choices are the best choices which is why I saved them for last. Do you know what else is NOT cancelled? The answer is family and laughing. What an amazing time it is to come together and enjoy your family. You can even spend time video calling extended family knowing they too are home. You can talk but more importantly you can laugh and enjoy such a simple and immensely important part of life that we all take for granted.
One of my favorite sayings, Live, Love, Laugh. The simple things yet most important things in life are not cancelled. We as a generation have forgotten that. We have forgotten how to socialize. We have forgotten what is important in life. We have forgotten that working more rather than living life has changed us as humans. We have forgotten that we do not need everything we see in order to be happy. We are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic however, it may be just the thing that the world needs to reset if we can heed the message. May all the front line workers be protected by the hand of God as they unselfishly put themselves in harms way for the sake of our lives, may those that are lost Rest In Peace, may the sick heal as quickly as possible and may we, the remaining, learn to appreciate life again rather than things.
I hope this blog post did not come off as lessening such a serious issue. The pandemic is here. All you can do is heed the warnings but while you sit around waiting for it to pass, I want you to realize that if you opened your eyes this morning and every morning during this pandemic than you need to realize how blessed you are. I am going to suggest a reading to fill some of your home time and the book is called Living Gratitude. Here is a link to get a copy from Amazon >>> https://amzn.to/38xquS6
