You definitely are the oldest that you have ever been but the point of my blog post on this #WisdomWednesday is that you are also the youngest you will ever be again. That might sound depressing but it is a fact that we all must face and if we do, we will be able to appreciate that much more that crosses our paths.
Today is just about awareness. We are always putting everything off until another time. The problem is, will we be around when that times finally comes or, if we are around, will we be able to even do that thing which we put off?
Carpe Diem which means seize the day is so true and we should be living our lives with those two words at the forefront of our minds. You have to seize today because you may never get the same opportunity and I do not mean this because you may die tomorrow, I mean this because opportunities disappear so quickly. So how can you help seize each day? Here are my two suggestions, first, let go of the past. Too many people live their lives regretting what was and what could have been and what happened back then. I am telling you that if you keep living in the past, every day that you could have seized and accomplished things will just slip away forever because you are stuck living in a place that no matter what you do, you cannot change a thing that happened there. It is the past. It is done and it will never give you anything you need in the present so stop worrying about what is behind you and open your eyes to what is right in front of you.
My second suggestion is to choose fear over regret. We all have so many things that we fear but we also constantly try and conquer those fears and often we succeed. It is a much better outcome for our lives to face our fears and succeed than to spend the rest of our lives living with the regret of never trying. Sure we may have moments of failures when we face certain fears but those are moments in time. On the other hand regret fills our daily lives and thoughts of what ifs. If you think about it, why would anyone want to live their life filled with regret? Face your fear and you will always win, one way or another, you will win whether by conquering your fear and succeeding or conquering your fear, momentarily failing and annihilating any and all possible regret.
I think these are two great starting points to help you seize the day. If my suggestions do not work, you need to find a way to seize your own day.
One man who made an art of seizing each day and each opportunity was Sam Walton. If you can only read one book because of lack of time, I must impress upon you to read Made In America. This book is a true story of seizing opportunities, racing toward your goals, building your dreams and anything else needed to be successful in business and in life. Normally I suggest borrowing a copy but in the case of this book, it would be great if you bought your own copy so that you can always refer back to it. It is only a few dollars on Amazon and here is a link>>> https://amzn.to/2MNUUFC
If you choose to shop in Amazon, I would greatly appreciate it if you could use the link I have provided. As an Amazon Affiliate, it is possible I can earn a bonus and therefore continue to provide continued content we all enjoy. Thank you in advance!
