Does the word enough actually exist in anyone’s life? On this #TrashItThursday I am going to touch slightly on this because it is something that keeps popping into my head.
You eat breakfast and you are full so you say you have had enough food. Then a few hours later you are eating again. I guess that earlier meal was not enough food instead, it was a pause. Then there came dinner followed by snacks then that was followed by a night resting only to wake up and start eating again. Or, you have a closet full of clothing and you feel you have enough but then, you find yourself shopping. You end up buying more clothing and you are convinced you have more than enough but then, one day you are shopping again. What happened to enough? How about your relationship? You find yourself arguing and you have convinced yourself that you have had enough. You are not dealing with it anymore but then, you reconcile and all is well until, the next spat, where you once again say you have had enough until, the next reconciliation. Again, there was never really a point where the word enough fit it’s meaning instead, you just momentarily paused.
The word enough has been programmed in our minds to mean an ending, it means you are done but what it actually is, it is an open ending, a pause if you will. There is no finality in the word enough even though we all think that is what it means. The word enough should actually be synonymous with the word pause because that is all it really is. It is a temporary pause in a moment of time. Yes, enough is just a pause in a moment in time because when you are ready, you will once again resume that which you claimed was enough.
It may seem like a silly topic but the point of this blog is to make you aware of your words especially when you are building and growing your business and your future. Choose your words wisely and think about the things you really want to say because one day your words may come back to haunt you. An example which is what actually sparked this blog was an encounter I recently had. Someone swore to me that they had enough with the way they were living. They swore they had enough with their blatant disregard for the way they were living and they were committed to changing until, they reverted back to what they always had done. They only paused, temporarily, they never really had “enough”. Why does this matter? It matters because words teach people who you are. If you want to be taken seriously, speak what you mean and mean what you speak. That way of living will bring you consistency, validity and trust worthiness.
Therefore, even though I have chosen the word enough to make my point, I want you to use #TrashItThursday as a day that you consciously throw out rambling and speak with meaning.
