Today on this #MammothMonday, I want to spotlight the company Goya. I am not doing so because they may or may not be aligned with the current administration, I am spotlighting them as a great American company.

As most of you may have heard, the CEO of Goya refuses to apologize for remarks that he has made which have been seen as being a supporter of the current administration. To that I say, good for him. I am not saying this because I too am aligned with his thinking, rather, I am saying this because we still live in America. We are entitled to have our opinions and we are entitled to speak our minds. The problem though is that somewhere along the way, it was decided that some people are not only NOT allowed their own opinion, those people need to be crucified, humiliated, destroyed, bankrupted, rioted against and demeaned. When did this happen? When did we have to start making the choice of our safety over our opinion? When did rioting become synonymous with protesting? When did we change from America to a free for all, kill or be killed, survival of the meanest society?

Boycotting Goya is like tying your moms ventilator tube into a knot because it is too long. Guess what will happen? I used your mom as an example because a mom signifies the caregiver of the family. The one who feeds and nurtures the ones she loves. Goya is an American company who employs thousands upon thousands of American people. They have also fed and donated over a million pounds of food to food banks in order to feed those suffering from hunger. THEY DID NOT ask if the hungry were democrats or republicans, they asked, what do you need?

What is wrong with people? There is no way that this great country of ours is filled with such an abundance of thin skinned evil people that the opposing side must be destroyed. We are founded on the fact that We the people can come together and share ideas and ideals. We the people have mastered negotiating skills and have created a powerhouse of a nation. It is our abilities to share thoughts and ideas and together create greatness like advancements in surgery and medicines and arts and construction and the list goes on. You can not have only one thought process in the world. I believe that is called a dictatorship to name but one.

Oppression is WRONG in everything. There is rioting and destruction happening on both sides of the aisle and both sides are wrong for it. Everyone who tries to oppress the other is guilty of doing exactly what they profess against their own cause. It is exactly the same thing.

The same goes with the law. If your son gets arrested for robbing a grocery store and you get mad at the arresting cop and not your son, you are part of the problem. I am just speaking in general terms. I am not speaking about some bad apples that have rotted the entire bunch. If you can not see the wrong doing, you are creating the problem.

Our sense of right and wrong has seemed to disappear leaving behind a culture of you against me, him against her, color against color, religion against religion. We are about diversity. That is what has made this nation great.

This is America! You are allowed to be different. You are allowed to voice your opinions freely. You are allowed to do just about anything you want (legally speaking). What you are not allowed to do is crucify those who want to do the same. If you feel that every thought and every opinion that you have is the be all and end all then, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

Food for thought

Happy #TrashItThursday. I have a quick blog post that needs to be posted before I lose my ever loving mind.

What has happened to people? Since when are anyones choices and thoughts the be all and end all in life? When did life change, disallowing us as individuals to have our OWN opinions and beliefs? If you do not agree with someone then guess what, that is PERFECTLY NORMAL. It is not however your opportunity to bash, annihilate, crucify or demean the individual whom you disagree with. Do people not recognize that when they attack others because they do not have the same beliefs, it makes them look ignorant, self-serving, immature, weak and close minded? For crying out loud, grow a backbone. Stand up for what you believe in and maintain your convictions however, allow others to do the same. The outcome is called having conversations and gaining the abilities to compromise and actually get things accomplished.

Has social media actually made you believe that the world at your fingertips are your followers, scum of the earth, worthless people whom you reign over?

It is so sad and stressing to try and maintain a business that is driven socially and each and every time I log onto a platform, my entire feed is filled with people vilifying one another because they disagree with one another. I see people and family members who have been together years, become unrecognizable to one another due to a simple difference of opinion.

Have we as individuals become so weak that we cannot handle a differing view? Have we as individuals lost our ability to reason? We as a society are crumbing from within because we can no longer see that our own actions are destroying our very being. We as a society have become ripe for the taking because we have turned against one another and WE ARE ALL TO BLAME, not the left, not the right, not the Democrats, not the republicans, not the black, not the white, not the men and not the women but, WE THE PEOPLE, are to blame as a whole and WE THE PEOPLE are going to grow up immediately and come together or, we are going to be taken down together, quickly and without even knowing what happened.

Remember what is important in life. If you do not have the answer to that than you need to reflect and find that answer within yourself. Nobody can answer that for you.

Keep in mind, there is power in numbers and right now, the power is a world filled with hatred. Nobody is listening because everyone is screaming. Be the change you want to see, not with violence but with your actions. Like minded people will follow and before you know it, change will come. WE have rights afforded to us. One major right should be exercised in November. Vote for your want, your need and your belief. Let the process play out. If your choice loses, so what. Do not degrade yourself by whining and turning to violence. Accept it and continue to live your life and by the time the next election rolls around, maybe you convinced so many more people to join you that the next outcome favors you. Also, if you happen to be on the winning end, do not gloat in your “friends” faces. A win does not mean you were right nor does it mean you were the best. The win just means that a majority are in agreement. REMEMBER THAT.

Do not miss this opportunity

What a Friday! You would think that in the midst of this pandemic everyone is sitting around, pulling their hair out with boredom just waiting for freedom again. Well, that is only true for a portion of the population. So today on this #FundMeFriday, I must first say that I hope all of you have funded yourselves today. Even if all you had was $1, that is good enough to keep you in the rhythm of saving. If you have not funded yourself today, there is no time like the present. Go take care of yourself before doing another thing.

Now, contrary to what the population thinks, there are huge numbers of people working and I am not talking about essential workers (aka HEROS), I am talking about misc businesses including entrepreneurs. Work never stops for us. Today alone, I managed more tasks and meetings than I have all week. When that iron is hot, put on your oven mitts and run full steam ahead or, someone else will.

I am so proud of my clients, those who are just starting out, those who are building their businesses and those who are rocking their numbers.

Yes, we are basically in quarantine and so much is shut down around us however, we are living in the age of technology and not just any technology, we have abilities afforded to us that our ancestors could not even dream of. We have the ability to build six and seven figure businesses from our kitchen table and never have to leave the house. With this type of technology, nobody should be able to say that they could not build their dream. You should all have your ideas set to turbo. This is a perfect time to make mistakes and fix anything that needs changing.

There is one stipulation though and that stipulation must happen before you start building your dream. What is this stipulation? Simple, you have to want it. Plain and simple, if you really want that dream, you have to live and breathe it. You have to wake up thinking about it and you have to go to sleep running it through head. Only then, will you be able to succeed and live happily ever after because you thought of, created and followed your dream and it’s journey.

In conclusion, do not think about what is missing from your life, instead, look around you and see everything that you have available at your fingertips. Open your eyes and stop letting opportunity pass you by because you think you are missing something.

Stimulus Drama Looms

Here we are at another #FundMeFriday and money is on everyone’s mind. Before I get into this stimulus deadline that is looming, I need to say my normal Friday reminders. The main reminder is that I hope that everyone has funded themselves today. Reminder number two is to remember that it does not matter how much you deposit into your savings account, the important part is that you make some kind of deposit into that account which you must remember that the purpose of it is that you are building for your future. If you still need to make that transfer today, stop here and take the couple of minutes you need and make that deposit. You can come back and read this blog once you took care of yourself first.

That being said, let us talk about this looming IRS deadline. For those individuals who have not received their stimulus payments yet, the IRS is giving you until noon on Wednesday the 13th to log into their website and record a bank account for your direct deposit of your stimulus payment.

If you do not give the IRS your banking information for direct deposit, they will begin to mail out the stimulus payments in the form of a paper check to the last recorded address that they have for you. The arrival of the checks will be toward the end of May but more likely some time in June. So, if you want your stimulus payment sooner rather than later, I suggest you head over to IRS.gov and give them your information immediately.

On a side note about these stimulus payments, the IRS wants some people to return the money. These are the three main groups of people the IRS is targeting to get their money back from:

First: They sent out stimulus payments to many deceased individuals. The IRS wants the families who accepted these payments to send them back immediately. There is a major bone of contention here though and that is that people were chosen to receive these checks based on 2019 and 2018 income. If the person died in 2020, technically they or rather their family, are entitled to this payment because they earned the right to receive a stimulus payment. The IRS is trying to backtrack quickly by stating that the person needed to be alive at least the day the CARES Act was announced. This is not however how it was originally planned and therein is the problem.

Second: The second group are non-resident aliens and resident aliens. They too have received stimulus money and the IRS is now stating that they were not entitled to this money.

Third: Incarcerated individuals. This one is really up for debate because the CARES Act stated that basically anyone with a valid social security number, which the majority of inmates possess, would be entitled to receive stimulus money but this too is being debated.

The IRS wants you to go to their website and retrieve the information and instructions on how to return the funds. What you need to know though before doing that, is that so far, there is no legal way that the IRS can just come and take this money from you nor has it been deemed that these groups of people are not entitled to the stimulus payment, therefore, you might want to stand your ground and wait until actual action has been implemented regarding these questionable stimulus payments.

Know the difference

A quick message on this #TrashItThursday to those struggling to know the difference between giving up and knowing that you have had enough.

Giving up is when you stop trying because you do not care about something or someone anymore. You are obviously on the wrong track because you do not care enough to continue or to try.

Knowing that you have had enough is when you start feeling stress and resentment when you think about something or someone. You get hurt personally and all you can think about is the misery and sadness you are feeling.

When you give up, you are done and ready to move one. When you know that you have had enough then, you need to walk away because you are being mentally and emotionally tasked. One is a choice while the other is a necessity. Make sure you learn the difference or you are going to have a rough journey down your path toward freedom and building your dream.

You can still teach

I keep hearing excuses from my business consultant client’s that they are unable to build their business during this quarantine period because they cannot meet with potential clients. Well, on this #WisdomWednesday I am going to tell you that meeting with clients is probably easier now during quarantine than it was when we walked freely amongst each other.

Tonight I did a 1 1/2 hour business consultation from home, while my television played in the background and while I munched on frozen red grapes. We discussed an enormous amount of information at our leisure and because there was no ceremonial business nonsense involved, we were extremely relaxed and able to speak freely. I was able to take advantage of the fact that I had all my stuff around me and therefore I was able to share my screen for the presentation of financial statements as well as pan my room to show documents and examples that were in line with our topic.

The point of this blog post is to show you that even though you are unable to meet face to face physically with a client or even a new prospect, you have the convenience of modern technology at your fingertips to assist you in working with these clients using apps like like Zoom, Skype, FaceTime and even older technology like email, snail mail, fax, and scans. There is no reason why your business should cease or even slow down with all that is available for you to use.
